About Bill James

With over 37 years of experience in the printing and publishing field, my experience includes offset, letterpress, and web printing, foil stamping, UV coating, embossing, thermography, envelope converting, mail shop, book production, edition binding, desktop publishing, telemarketing, direct sales, and direct mail. I have been actively involved in the design and production of numerous product start-up campaigns. For the last three years I have been helping companies market on the Internet.

Early in my career while furthering my education in Minnesota, my wife Nancy and I started a very successful home-based publishing company. The company published theological commentaries from the 1800’s — a daring step into an unknown market. On a non-existent marketing budget, a limited target market was contacted. As a result, thousands of books were sold. During this time Nancy and I co-authored a book, The Story of Jesus, which sold over 10,000 copies.

I used my interest in computers to develop one of the first computer estimating software programs, which was sold to a national company. I became a prime consultant involved in the start-up of a very large direct mail firm which offers computerized laser printing, envelope converting, web and sheetfed operation, foil stamping, full bindery, and mail operation with over 300 employees and doing in excess of 35 million dollars in sales.

For twenty-four years, I owned and operated a commercial printing firm. I was responsible for all the sales of the company, which were in excess of one million dollars per year. The company used the latest in electronic and digital equipment. Because of technological changes in the printing industry, I decided to close the business in 2004.

In 1994, I was asked to write a manual for contractors on how to write a market plan for their business that would be effective, inexpensive and require only a small investment of time. The client wanted the information to be in a format that would be easy for anyone to understand and implement. The result was a 36-page booklet in fill-in-the-blank and checklist formats called Contractors Blueprint for Success. Challenged by this project, I expanded and improved the work. After three years of painstaking labor, I introduced Market2Win.

Market2Win was designed for the hard-pressed business owners who have enormous demands placed on their time and skills. It is a concise, easy-to-understand program that walks business owners through every step of planning, implementing, and evaluating their marketing strategies. Market2Win even came with software that drives and tracks the direct mail portion of a marketing plan.

After the input of numerous businesses, I wrote another marketing manual called Market with Postcards. Market with Postcards provided businesses with a resource that would open doors like no other promotional item they had ever used. When implemented it produced more demand for their products. I sold the rights to this book to the Internet marketing guru, Alex Mandossian who has earned 100’s of thousands of dollars with this resource manual.

I have been a member of the Board of Directors of Advancing Native Missions since their inception in 1993. They are a mission outreach that supports over 5,000 indigenous missionaries throughout the world. I also have served as a member of the Board of Advisors for Spirit FM, a Christian radio station. I live in Virginia with my wife. I am blessed with four daughters, four son-in-laws and nine grandchildren.

I am available to show you how to market your business or services. If you are ready for some real results, write me at bill@wajames.com
